Events like the "Ride for the Unborn VIRGINIA" would not be possible without the selfless dedication of volunteers from across the commonwealth who tirelessly support this vital effort to protect precious unborn life and the mission of pregnancy resource centers that daily demonstrate love and compassion to those in a time of great crisis.
Each year, The Ride for the Unborn will honor one of our volunteers with the "Friend of the Ride" award. This award takes on even greater significance as we dedicate it to the memory of a wonderful couple taken from us much too soon. Irwin and Bonita Coons developed a passion for motorcycles later in life than most. But once that passion was stoked, they dedicated themselves to using their newfound interest in bikes for the glory of God and the ministry of the F.A.I.T.H. Riders Chapter at London Bridge Baptist Church in Virginia Beach.
Irwin participated in past "Ride for the Unborn Virginia" events, committing himself to the cause of the unborn. Bonita soon joined him as they shared their faith and testimony at prominent motorcycle events like Daytona Bike Week.
Unfortunately, in 2015 as they returned to Virginia from a national ministry rally in Alabama, Irwin and Bonita were involved in a horrific accident near Atlanta. Both would ultimately succumb to their injuries and we were left with the profound loss of the earthly walk of two so dedicated to their faith, family and ministry.
They will never be forgotten. We take great comfort in the memory of their friendship and their great love for this cause so dear to us. It is truly our honor to dedicate this award to them as we cherish the Godly legacy of lives so well-lived.
